Being human means struggling at times to know which way to go, and perhaps even what to do. But as Christians, we have God's direct guidance for our body, mind, and soul. God gives enough light to see our path, keep us from stumbling, give us peace, is the balm for our sorrows and gives us enough light to walk by faith and please the Holy God of the universe. When we are discouraged or tired, or sad we find the energy for our souls in His word. God tells us to Rejoice, which does not have to be born of happiness. God tells us to Pray without ceasing because we have access to the throne room of the Holy God of the universe. God tells us to give Thanks in everything for all things are His servants, and He is working for His glory, and our good to conform us to Jesus our Lord and Savior. Food for our souls.

A quick devotional on the Gratitude I have for all of you who listen, and to the Lord for His mercies on the Free Range Preacher on Prayer podcast.

I love the word of God, it is for us an encouragement, an exhortation, a rebuke and forever a profound insight into the God of the universe, and often it is all four at the same time. In prayer a few days ago, praying specifically for my weak faith, righteous men and women, who by definition lived by faith came to mind, and my soul was indeed convicted, exhorted and encouraged. It is a prayer that I have added to my daily prayer life in part or in whole. It is my prayer that the Lord might use...

I truly enjoyed the devotional with my grand babies a ton, and thought we would do one more with them while they were in town. My grand babies again, warts and all, well almost all, talking thanksgiving. Thank you again for your listening and patience. Fred

Until I get another opportunity, this is my favorite episode. I get to talk to three of my five grand babies, and see what they know about prayer. What a great time we are having and have on this Devotional episode of Free Range Preacher on Prayer. God told me before in His word, how great it is to see your children's children, but I did not listen until He allowed me to see my children's children. And, by the by, my children are now chopped liver.

My biggest challenge, is to be full of faith. Our God hears. Our God Listens. Our God comforts. Through His word, For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death. Psalm 48:14 "Here, in that moment, the Lord answered my prayer, now I had not voiced a prayer for peace in my soul, but as with Nicodemus, and the women at the well, and Mary at the wedding feast, God knew what my heart was really needing, and His provision was in that very instant."

There is no greater way to ensure you are praying what your loved ones need, especially if you have not seen them in a while, than to pray Scripture for them. My favorite passage to pray for others is Ephesians 3:14-21. And I'm old and I know stuff.

Everyone in our lives are or have been in our lives for a reason. Some we don't remember, but the ones we do have a special place of some sort in our lives. There are ways to pray for those instruments of God and their impact on us, furthermore, doing so adds comfort to our souls even as we pray for them. There are ways we can make those prayers appropriate and meaningful, even for the people we have not seen in many years. Find out how in Devotional 23 of Free Range Preacher on Prayer.

Jeremiah's heart was so devoted to God, that He called out for God's justice on his own life, but with one proviso, "but not with Thine anger." There is only one thing more difficult than trials in our lives, and that is living without the peaceful fruit of righteousness which they bring.

A reminder of how much deeper is the benefit of eternal life when we experience it her even before heaven. We see how greatly prayer affects our knowing the only true God and Jesus the Christ who He sent to be our Savior, and what a great love He has for us to tell us yes, yes, but not exactly what you asked for, and no. His answers are always done for our good, in His love and at the proper time. Thank you Father, Son and Holy Spirit for your abundant grace.

We all long for comfort and sometimes have the mistaken belief that when we are comfortable we have found the favor of God, and there are times that is true. However, what is true all the time is when we are in affliction, for the child of God, we are most certainly experiencing the favor of our God.

As promised a little insight into beginning our daily prayers. I have found it helpful to begin my daily prayers with a time of unburdening my soul by having a short time of Confession, Thankfulness, Worship and Intercession.
