Jesus makes it pretty plain in John 11:41b-42 "And Jesus raised His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank Thee that Thou heardest Me. 42“And I knew that Thou hearest Me always; but because of the people standing around I said it, that they may believe that Thou didst send Me." He did not pray out loud to make sure God heard Him. It was for His disciples and us that He displayed such a robust prayer life. He is our model of consistent communion with God the Father. God’s word is most precious to our souls. From God’s mercies to our contentment in affliction, He has dealt well with all who love and serve Him. Psalm 119:66-67: Thou hast dealt well with Thy servant, O LORD, according to Thy word. Psalm Teach me good discernment and knowledge, For I believe in Thy commandments.

God works through our enemies, our weaknesses, and our yearning for Him to give us abundant life. Psalm 30: 4-5 Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

The place of the word of God? As Moses called to the emerging Nation of Israel, it is not an idle word for us. It is indeed our life. A prayer for the centrality of the word of God in our lives. Everything we need for life and godliness.
